Stop HUD from evicting foreclosed families

Urgent! Please make a call right now.

Our own government is causing unnecessary evictions of foreclosed families. This is happening in Lynn and across the country.

The problem is caused by rules of "HUD" (the Department of Housing and Urban Development). Let them know we won’t accept this! Make as many of these calls as you can, starting at the beginning. A sample message is below. You can send email too, but calls are more important.

Call these people:

  1. Senator Elizabeth Warren
    617-565-3170
  2. Carol Galante, FHA Commissioner (she could fix this problem right away if she wanted to):
    202-470-2071 x2400 Carol.J.Galante@hud.gov
  3. Melanie R. Newman, Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs:
    202-470-2072 Melanie.N.Russell@hud.gov
You can ask to speak to press secretary Cameron French (but you can talk to other people at that office too)

Sample message:

Hi, I have a message for ___. I'm really upset that the Department of Housing and Urban Development is causing evictions.

Families are trying to buy back their homes after foreclosure. But because of the Department's rules, they are facing eviction instead. The Cardona family here in Lynn is facing an eviction case this MONDAY. They offered to buy back their home, but HUD is having them evicted.

I want you to get the Department to stop the eviction of the Cardona family. They live at 10 Cypress Place, Lynn MA. And I want you to change the Department's rules so families like them can get buy their homes back.

My name is ___ and my address is __ and my phone number is ____.

Thank you.
